This website is about a world effort to facilitate peace through group meditation. Studies have shown that if enough people put their transcendent Energy together, violence and other disruptive events are significantly reduced. So we are serving as a resource to aid in that effort. Please join us as part of that effort.

Far from being inactive, meditation is simply activity in the reverse direction. Instead of going from the inside out (from thought to speech and action), one goes from the outside in (from speech and action, to thought, to silence). It does seem counter-intuitive that silent, inward activity could have dramatic outward effects. But there is by now there a large body of research (conducted mostly under the auspices of the TM movement) that demonstrates how a tiny number of meditators--equivalent to the square root of just one percent of a population--can influence the quality of life of the whole population in terms of crime rate, accident rate, hospital admissions, economic indices, and even the weather. This shouldn't be surprising, once we remember that consciousness isn't restricted to the space inside our skins.
I remember one study, published a number of years ago in the Journal of Conflict Resolution, which plotted the number of people meditating as a group against a general quality of life index in Israel and Lebanon during the 1982 war. The index precisely tracked the number of meditators as they rose and fell over a period of several months. The probability of this having happened by chance is close to nil.
The implications of this kind of inner activism are amazing. If the principle of the square root of just one percent holds consistently for all population groups (and the research so far indicates that it does), then one group of 8,000 could influence the whole world; far less than that for the Middle East. Of course, having large coherence creating groups doesn't do away with the need for negotiations or political activism. But these groups certainly would transform the whole context in which negotiations and political activism normally take place.
Whenever I get angry or frustrated about the state of things in Israel and the Middle East, I try to hold the thought of what 500 people, meditating daily as a group in some Israeli hotel could create. A small number of people of good will could accomplish something that decades of purely outward activity cannot and will not.

Mathematics of Group Meditation
If the underlying mathematics is, as it appears to be, that the impact of the group is take the number of people putting forth this active energy, multiply it by itself and then multiply that number by 100, then the impact becomes clear.
One person meditating is putting forth energy that impacts 100 people.
Two people meditating put forth energy that impacts 400 people (2 x 2) x 100 = 4 x 100 = 400. So by joining two people together, 4 times as many people benefit. -- that second person extends the impact by 300. (but only because the first one stayed)
Three people meditating ---> 900 people (3 x 3) x 100 = 9 x 100 = 900. #3 extended the impact to 500 more.
If 10 people are already meditating, the 11th adds 2,100 to the impact range.
10: 10 x 10 x 100 = 10,000
11: 11 x 11 x 100 = 12,100
If 100 people -- the 101st adds 20,100 to the impact range.
100: 100 x 100 x 100 = 1,000,000
101: 101 x 101 x 100 = 1,020,100 (difference is 20,100)
500 to 501 --> 100,100 more (501 impacts 25,100,100) enough for much of the Middle East
1000 to 1001 ---> 200,100 more (1001 impacts 100,200,100)
2000 to 2001 ---> 400,100 more (2001 impacts 400,400,100)
8000 would impact the entire world -- (6,400,000,000)

How the Energy of our Meditations Works Between these Major Efforts:
The synchonized efforts are the times when we generate enough energy to impact a sizable population and have a measureable effect on the world. Reports of this effect we received for parts of the Middle East and in a few US cities from our June effort.
Obviously, a one-time effort cannot sustain itself for very long. This is where other efforts can help, even when there is not the synchonized efforts which we will mount four times each year. (more if we get the support, but right now we are aiming for four)
If a group can meditate between the synchronized times, that effort would be focused on sustaining some of the residual energy of the synchronized efforts. This would have a "booster" effect based on the above formula for groups -- we ask that groups strive to do this at least once per month.
If one person meditates in this same time period, it will also serve to "boost" the residual energy -- every little bit helps. The more people doing this concentrated meditation, the better -- perhaps someone nearby is doing the same thing at the same time and there will be an effective group. We ask that people commit to at least one 15-30 minute session per week.
We can all have an impact and over time, it can become significant. Please be part of our effort.
